VILLAGE COUNCIL ELECTS THE MAYOR AND VICE MAYOR

DEB GILLIS ELECTED MAYOR OF ISLAMORADA

MIKE FORSTER ELECTED VICE MAYOR

At the November 29, 2018 meeting, the Village Council unanimously elected Deb Gillis to serve as Mayor of Islamorada for the next year. Although the position of Mayor is largely ceremonial, the Mayor chairs all meetings of the Village Council and represents the Village at events locally, throughout the State of Florida and in Washington D.C. Mike Forster was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Mayor for the next year.

The elections followed the formal swearing in of each Council Member by the Honorable Judge Sharon Hamilton, Monroe County Circuit Court Judge.
