ANNUAL LABOR DAY SERVICE AT THE HURRICANE MONUMENT
PLEASE JOIN THE MATECUMBE HISTORICAL TRUST MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2019 AT 9:00 AM
Please join the Matecumbe Historical Trust for their annual Labor Day service on Monday, September 2nd at 9:00 a.m. to honor those who lost their lives in the Hurricane of September 2, 1935. The service will be held at the Florida Keys Memorial known as the Islamorada Hurricane Monument located on US 1 at mile marker 81.5.
The Labor Day service will include the invocation, recognition of special guests, presentation of colors, singing of the National Anthem and America the Beautiful, guest speakers, a history of the hurricane, the placing of the memorial wreath, taps and the benediction.
Each year, we pay tribute to the civilians and war veterans who perished in the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend this memorial service in honor of those who perished.

In case of bad weather, the alternate location for the ceremony is the Fire Station 20 truck bay, across US 1 from the Hurricane Monument.
This event is open to the public.
