Overview
The Department’s function is to enhance the quality of life for residents by providing safe and attractive parks, recreation areas, and activities. There are eight Village parks and recreation properties: Founders Park, Library Park Beach, Anne’s Beach, Plantation Tropical Preserve, Green Turtle Hammock Nature Preserve, Plantation Hammocks Preserve, Key Tree Cactus Nature Preserve, and Southwind's Park. The 45-acre Islamorada Founders Park is the center of the Village’s park system, offering sports programs, recreational programs and facilities, sports coaching and training, and facilities for aquatics, golf, soccer, baseball, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, swimming, and basketball. The department also provides children’s recreational camps and supervises, organizes, and supports large charitable public special events such as the Upper Keys Rotary Gigantic Nautical Flea Market, Islamorada Chamber of Commerce Holiday Festival and Island Fest, July 4th Celebration & Fireworks, Florida Keys Swim Club Youth Swim Meets, Special Olympics Swim Meet, Beats on the Bay & Bay Jam Music Series and several Islamorada Community Entertainment amphitheater events, as well as a wide range of numerous smaller special events.

Charges & Fees
- Non-Resident Park Entry Fees (Credit Cards accepted).
Adults (18-64) $8.00 - Youth/Senior (3-17) $5.00 - Pool Fees apply to all persons entering the Ron Levy Aquatic Center (pool area).
Adults (18-64) $3.00 - Youth/Senior (3-17) $2.00 - Non-resident park entrance fees (per person) for Summer Weekends (Memorial Day - Labor Day) & Holidays (Easter, Memorial, July 4th & Labor Day) are as follows:
Adult $15.00 - Youth/Senior $10.00 (Normal pool fees still apply).
Active United States Military Personnel, Honorably Discharged Veterans, and Disabled Veterans and up to four (4) family members are offered FREE use of Founders Park & Pool. Must show proper Military I.D.
*Pool fees are in addition to park fees for entrance into the aquatic center.
A convenience fee of 2.75% applies to all Credit Card transactions.

Park Amenities
Olympic Size Swimming Pool
A 50-meter by 25-yard Olympic Size Pool with water depths from 4 to 12.6 feet, diving well with four springboards. This is the only Olympic-size pool found this far south in the United States, spacious and perfect for family fun! Swimming, diving, and aquatic instructors on staff.
Splash Pad Play Environment
A unique zero-depth safe water playground.
Fun entertainment for children.
Beach
A beautifully manicured shallow water beach with a swimming area on the pristine Florida Bay. Complete with Tiki Huts, picnic tables, cooking grills, a pavilion, a sand volleyball court, shade trees, playgrounds for children, outdoor showers, and restroom facilities. Volleyballs are available for rent at the Park Office. No glass, alcohol, or dogs or pets are permitted on the beach. Must use grills provided in the picnic area.
A reminder to all visitors: Founders Park is a family-friendly establishment. Alcohol is STRICTLY prohibited.
*Service Animals welcome. Service animals are trained to do work or perform a task for persons with disabilities. Comfort and/or emotional support animals are not service animals, and are not recognized by the ADA.
Picnic Areas
Tiki Huts & Large Pavilion are available to rent to Village Residents for small special events. Contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 305-853-1685 for more information.
- Large Pavilion equipped with several tables and three cooking grills for use.
- Large Playground Tiki Hut equipped with two tables and one grill for use.
- Small Beach Tiki equipped with one table and one grill for use.
Playgrounds
Located on the Beach. Your child’s imagination can run wild on the large Pirate Ship playground, plus a separate small playground area just for the Lil Mateys!
Tennis Complex
Five lighted hard courts. Tennis pro on staff and pro shop. First come, first served! Equipment is available at the Park Office.
Fitness and Walking Trails
Featuring a fitness station course winding around the park for exercise or a leisurely stroll. Benches and water fountains are available along the way.
Outdoor Fitness Park
The shaded Area Features various cardio and resistance-based exercise machines.
Pickleball Courts
Newly Resurfaced Single lit Basketball court available first come, first served! Yellow lines for two pickleball courts.
Designated Pickleball hours for the multi-sport courts are: 6:00am to Noon. Equipment is available for rent at the Park Office.
Dog Park
Our recently upgraded one-acre fenced park where your best friend can run free and socialize with other furry buddies! The Dog Park features pet-friendly synthetic turf, bonded mulch, ADA walkways, Tiki Huts, benches and seating areas (for people!), Large and Small dog areas with separate entrances, doggy splash & watering stations, and agility equipment.
Beautifully maintained fields with soccer goals and plenty of open space for ball games and recreational activity.
Featuring a full-sized hardball field with fencing and dugouts.
Golf Driving Cage
Practice your driving skills! The large netted area features four (4) hitting stations with ball trays, bag stands, and 5'x5' mats designed to use your own tee. Bring your own clubs. Golf balls are available at the Park Office.
Amphitheater with Great Lawn

Pickleball Complex
The sport that is sweeping the nation! We have a total of five newly resurfaced courts in Founders Park! Three permanent courts are located in Pickleball Complex. Open 6:00 am to 9 pm daily.
Community Center
Large meeting room available for local charitable organizations, Homeowner’s Associations, local Committees/Boards, and Government agencies. Contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 305-853-1685 for more information to reserve the room for your meeting.
