Park Amenities

Historic Russell Cottage

A Keys vernacular cottage is the heart of the property. This historic structure was reportedly built before the 1935 hurricane that devastated Islamorada and later moved to the present site to avoid its demolition. It currently houses a Visitor Center and Gift Shop operated by Florida Bay Forever

Nature Trails

Two short mulched trails, one on each side of the property, form a flat 0.4 mile loop. Walk through a dense tropical rockland hammock, observe native species, and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Picnic & Play Area

Picnic tables and a sandy play area are located at the front of the property, close to US 1.

Pavilion

This two-story structure at the back of the property was completed in October 2025. The second floor of the pavilion overlooks Little Basin and Florida Bay; it is available to rent for events. Review a sample of the rental form for rates, timelines, and terms. Contact the Cultural Arts Coordinator at emily.rother@islamorada.fl.us for more information.

Kayak Launch

Fully ADA-accessible, the floating kayak launch provides access through a short mangrove tunnel to Little Basin. No motorized watercraft are permitted at the launch. Parking is available nearby.
